What's coming for 2019!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone's new year is off to a good start:-) We have a few new things on our list of things to do.

Aluminum FDC Timecode Display

We have two prototype versions in the works at the moment. One is close to the original 3D printed FDC display with the same internals with overall thickness of 1.4". The second version is currently a concept with custom White 7-Segment LEDs with much thinner profile that gives the display an overall thickness of around 0.9". We would like to know what all of you think of the new concept LED design. These LEDs are significantly brighter than the original red LEDs but do draw a little more power from the batteries. Currently there is no pricing for this design, still factoring all the component pricing and manufacturing costs. What you can expect is for a price drop on the MRE timecode slate when this new design is ready (let's see who's read close enough to notice this little gem;-). Once this design is ready to go up on the site for pre-order the original 3D printed version will be taken down.

The following photos are a comparison of the old 3D printed FDC and the new prototype, in direct sunlight no less. Currently only have 2 digits on the prototype, still waiting on more parts to finish off the rest. The red filter is there for direct comparison with the old LEDs. We are likely going to use a different color filter for better contrast with the new LEDs.

Backlight Option

We are looking into the possibility of offering much requested backlight option to this new FDC slate design. With both https://patents.google.com/patent/US5457507A/en and https://patents.google.com/patent/US5638151A/en expired, we no longer have to worry about any potential infringment on having a backlit timecode slate. How we will go about designing and cost of manufacturing one while trying to make a guess at the number of potential sale units is still something we have to figure out.

Pay With Crypto

That's right! We plan on adding crypto payment to our website by the end of February. You will be able to checkout and select Coinbase Commerce to pay with BTC, BCH, ETH, and LTC.
